Micro-Enterprises

FORS is working to help local communities benefit from the increasing number of tourists who come to enjoy Ruaha National Park every year. With support from FORS, local farmers are now growing vegetables to sell to the park lodges. A similar project jarring and selling honey is also in place. FORS continues to investigate other ways to assist local communities in providing services and products for income generation.

Nringi Urassa joined FORS to determine what need and interest that the local people have in micro-enterprise activities. He held meetings with over 60 groups of interested people. Their main interests included beekeeping and sewing projects. We are currently looking for funding to help support these groups in starting up micro-enterprise activities.
